My daughter is 3 1/2 y/o, weighs in at 45 lbs, 42″ tall with a 22 1/2″ chest and 7″ diameter biceps. She loved the pool last year but was terrified this year for some reason. They had these at the local Y and she rediscovered her love of water wearing one. She was absolutely delighted to be “swimming” like her older siblings without “draining” (S speak for drowning). She can move her arms freely and while the strap is snug and there is no more to let out and make it bigger, we think it should see her thru the summer. Her arms slip in easily but she cannot get out of it unassisted when it is done up. It gives her confidence and us peace of mind. It should not need to be mentioned that your child needs to be supervised while in the pool and this should not be used unsupervised. If there is a lot of splashing and messing around going on in the pool, her face will still get very wet and on occasion her face will go under which leads to much screaming and of course paranoid Mum thoughts of secondary drowning! I would not hesitate to recommend this to ANYONE with a toddler and a body of water that is swum in.

This new model of life jacket is unbelievably fantastic. It’s one of those “why didn’t somebody think of this a long time ago” inventions. They keep a kids head above water, allow the child some mobility and freedom, are easy to put on, and are adorable! A 4 way win all around!I have 2 kids, ages 3 and 5. We were going to Michigan to visit my parents’ farm and to do some fishing/boating. I knew the kids would need life jackets, so I decided to try this type after reading so many amazing reviews. I have to say…I agree completely with everyone else. These are amazing!First and foremost, they keep your kids safe. Obviously that is the point of any life jacket. These do that incredibly well. Because there is flotation portion on all sides, there’s no way for a head to accidentally slip under water. These have adjustable straps in the back so the torso portion is snug on any body type (both of my kids are off the chart small and we were still able to pull these tight enough to be secure). We wore these both over a t-shirt while boating and on bare skin/swim suits, and the snug was fit both times. These are not the life jackets of 25 years ago that had huge arm holes allowing a kiddo’s head to slip inside the vest. These are secured on the arms as well so that can’t happen.Secondly, these are comfortable! Neither of my kids would have been psyched to wear these if they weren’t comfy. They both put them on and enjoyed them so much they kept them on to play in after the boat ride. These also seem to offer more mobility than the old school life vests. Arms can be raised and lowered, there’s no visibility issue, heads can turn in a normal range of motion. The designs on these are soooo cute. We have the alligator and the pink penguins, but I’ve seen may of the other designs in department stores. They’re very appealing to kids, which is another plus when they’re told they need to wear these! My kids have since used these in pools and they LOVE them. My daughter has become so much more confident in the water after she could ‘swim’ on her own in her life jacket. She’s figured out the arm and leg movements of swimming while having the safety of the flotation device. As a side note, my daughter suffers from nursemaid’s elbow (dislocations). The arm portions do get a bit snug and tricky to pull off, but we’ve been able to push her arm through and remove it w/o issue every time.I highly recommend these to anyone who is considering a purchase!

I have used this life jacket on my son several times now. I am very pleased with it and love the safety and peace of mind it offers. My son quickly adapted to wearing it and now can float, fear-free, which is something he didn’t do in swim lessons. The vest does a great job at keeping my little guy on top of the water. I feel much more confident taking him to the pool now. The buckle is easy to adjust to the correct size and it dries quickly once you’re out of the pool. So far, the fabric has held up well without pilling or fading. (Although this particular pattern, the blue camo, has a slightly faded look to begin with. It’s not a problem for me, but it’s worth mentioning. Other patterns I have seen at the pool were more highly saturated in color.)But note, even while your child is wearing this vest, you still have to pay attention. This vest will keep a child floating but the child still has to hold his head above the water. Like anything with little children, you have to watch them.

My daughter is 2, almost 3, weighs 33 pounds and is about 36 inches tall. We have this pulled as tight as it will go and it fits perfectly. She is able to float without falling backward or forward now, no issues. She did need to learn how to hold herself up, but that only took a couple of sessions in the pool, playing with her and letting her feel her way around. She’s now “swimming” on her own – dog paddling around, with close supervision because it’s all still new to her. I know by the end of the summer she’ll be a lot more confident and so will I. She likes being in the pool but was resistant to swim lessons. I think this will get us to a point where she’ll be happy learning to really swim. This would make a great life jacket for kids on a boat, too. Easy to use…and would work well if actually needed. If you’re looking to raise your confidence and your child’s confidence in the pool – this is the one for you!

Our Granddaughter is 18 month, 25 lbs. & really needed something besides just a baby float with seat. She didn’t like to just RIDE in something. We were just holding her in the pool which is tiring….SO even though we figured it would be too large, you can tighten the strap in back & it keeps her up pretty well. You still need to be with her ALL THE TIME…if she tips forward to swim on tummy, her face will go in water, but of course they need to learn that you cannot do that or you swallow water, right? if we let go, water level is right up to her chin. She will grow into this and she LOVES the PINK and the penquins on the front so does want to put in on. This will TRAIN the child to swim but you cannot just let them float around at a young age. CHild will eventually learn to keep chin up. She likes floating around on her back while we pull her around pool.I think it’s a winner!
