Hyoun Kim –
Over a year ago, I joined a boat club knowing absolutely nothing about boats. I figured it would be a good past time since my family moved out to area with a large lake and I didn’t want to invest a huge amount into something I knew nothing about. Over my many boating experiences since then, I’ve learned a lot about boating. I also learned about what I like and didn’t like. Of those dislikes, I’ve learned that I *HATE* mushroom anchors. I suppose it’s because they are cheap is the reason the boat club uses them for all their boats. I’ve read about them too… they do have a purpose but given the lake where I spend my time, they do absolutely nothing to keep the boat from drifting away.So with that said, I read a bit about anchors from Boating magazine and how to construct your own anchor rode. Following those instructions, I created my own anchor rode which I tote around every time I go boating. This chain is a big part of construction your own anchor rode. The purpose, according to Boating magazine is: “Regardless of boat style, all anchoring systems should have a boat length of stainless-steel or galvanized chain separating the rope and the anchor. The chain prevents chafing and abrasion. Its weight also keeps the anchorβs shank horizontal, allowing the flukes to better bite the bottom.”Since then, my boat has never once drifted. Although this is just one component of the anchor rode, I assume because I made it correctly is the reason this works. The chain is heavy duty and fits the needs/specifications of the boat I use primarily (pontoon).Would recommend.

Quality chain.

Quality chain

This chain with two shackles at each end is being used to attach my “rope come-a-long” to another tree or stump when I need to assure that the tree I’m cutting falls in the intended direction when there is a question due to heavy branch growth or need to drag a fallen log. The quality appearance looks good and both threaded pin bolts of the shackles turns easily by hand right out of the box without any need to clean or chase the threads, and so far nothing has bent or twisted under strain.

Chain seems fine. Shackles are cheap but work. Suggest applying loc tite to the threads.

Just what I needed!

Instead of a longer line I now use this with my anchor and I can use less line to anchor. Helps keep my anchor down so it can grab bottom. Should have had this along time ago. No rust and strong chain

Agradecido.
