   Way better than what came with the kayak. I can really propel myself through the water with them. My only complaint is the black power or whatever is coating it, comes off too easy. I have ruined a few sun shirts. I wish that could be fixed, but otherwise, well worth the money.

   The Bending Branches Angler Scout kayak paddle is a 36 oz. paddle that I bought after a you-tube video by a well known angler spoke about its merits. I have a lifetime Teton Kayak and I wanted a good paddle to match the boat. I am 6.1 and I ordered a 250 mil paddle per the chart on the bending branches online page. I chose the right size and it worked very well. The paddle has a measuring chart for fish and is not as light as and all fiber glass or carbon model which my daughter has but is well balanced and has an oval shaft for better fit. It has adjustments to feather if you prefer. I set the connection at standard and paddled with it with ease.

   A few years ago I bought a kayak and this paddle in green at a mom and pop shop and really liked both. This year on Black Friday I bought a spare kayak for cheap and decided that I would get the same paddle in orange to match the kayak and ordered the orange one from Amazon. Upon opening I noticed there’s no hook retrieval notch cut like advertised and not like my green one has. Also the numbering on the ruler of the paddle appears to be off and it’s not like that on my green one. It also appears this one has been shuffled around the storage facility with some scratches on it, which isn’t a huge deal since it’s made for outside and will get more with use. I’m not going to deal with the hassle of returning but it is somewhat of a let down. I wish I returned to the mom and pop shop an hour away.

   This fishing paddle provides me with the length I need for a large fishing kayak. It is sturdy, stores easily in me paddle holder, and I am learning to enjoy the lure removal slot for those errant casts.

   It’s very sturdy, but the oblong shape of the handle is not comfortable after being on the water for any period of time. This handle shape is not very easy on the hands or fingers when paddling any distance. The 2nd issue which is very important to anyone that kayaks for more than just a few minutes, the paddle is heavy. The added weight is very noticeable and it does make a difference, especially while fishing.
