   The connection mechanisms on either end could be a little more standard (this is the only reason I’m not giving it five stars), but I really, really, really like the LED lights on either side of the cable. Personally, if I were the designer of this product, I would have used light guide in a rig form factor so that the user can tell, from any angle and at least 50′ of distance, if there is power on the cable. The boat side female) LED is on the inside, so once it’s plugged in, good luck seeing if you have power without unplugging it. The dock side light is subject to orientation issues (not all NMEA plugs get installed so that the LED will be facing outwards). Not so much of an issue at night. Also, many docks have protectors that lower over the NMEA plugs. Neither of the ends were compatible with the fasteners in use at the dock or boat side, so the plug will work loose eventually. Huge design flaw in my opinion. Above and beyond those flaws, the only way to make this product better would be to include a voltage readout (at the boat end minimum) and provide some sort of polarity warning (this is typically found on the boat’s electrical panel, but it would be super handy if the user could know that there was a polarity issue at the dock before connecting the boat.

   Bought this to connect houseboat to generator. Seems to be decent quality and has worked well the few times we’ve used it so far.
